Kam Mofid, Chief Executive Officer
Kam Mofid brings to RGS Energy a wealth of knowledge and experience in the solar industry. Prior to joining RGS Energy, Kam was General Manager of Global Residential and Light Commercial Systems at SunEdison. Before joining SunEdison, Kam was President of Mainstream Energy, the parent company of REC Solar and AEE Solar, where, under his leadership, the company achieved substantial growth and improvements.
Prior to his entry into the solar sector, Kam served as President of Teleflex Power Systems, and at Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Company, as Director of Materials and Logistics. In the earlier part of his career, Kam held engineering and operations management positions at General Motors, where he was also named a Fellow of the Corporation. Kam holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a M.Sc. degree in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University, and a M.Sc. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Industrial & Systems Engineering.
Tony DiPaolo, Chief Financial Officer
Tony DiPaolo previously served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Incentra Solutions (now Presilient), a provider of information technology and storage management solutions to enterprises, where he managed service providers in North America and Europe. Prior to Incentra, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer for Roomlinx, a publicly traded media and entertainment services company. Tony’s background also includes experience in executive financial positions for public companies in the equipment finance industry, and he was part of a successful wireless technology startup company which was eventually acquired. Tony has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Denver and is a licensed certified public accountant.
Andrew Zaref, Vice President of Project Finance
Andrew Zaref joined RGS Energy through the acquisition of Mercury Solar Systems, where he worked since 2011 overseeing accounting and financial operations, contract administration, procurement, engineering and permitting, and information technology/business systems.
Prior to joining Mercury Solar Systems, Andrew served as Chief Financial Officer of several publicly traded and private equity-backed companies, leading them during periods of hyper growth, business combinations and divestitures, and capital-raising activities. In addition, Andrew enjoyed a 16-year career in public accounting including numerous years as a Partner at KPMG LLP servicing numerous clients in the information, entertainment, communications, and technology industries. He is a CPA and a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management.
Justin Pentelute, President of Residential and Small Commercial Systems
Justin Pentelute was previously the founder and CEO of Syndicated Solar, a solar development firm that was acquired by RGS Energy in August of 2013. Prior to founding Syndicated Solar, Justin co-founded Solar Nation and helped grow it into a nationally recognized solar development firm. Before entering the solar industry, Justin was a consultant for Tryant, LLC, a firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, where he positioned several portfolio companies to go public. He also served as the acting CEO of Wren, Inc., a publicly held company focusing on the wholesale and distribution of specialty items. Justin has personally been involved in over 20 MW of renewable energy projects, from design and installation to financing and structuring.
Timothy Seamans, General Manager of Commercial Operations
Timothy Seamans first became interested in solar power as a way to mitigate climate change. Since joining RGS Energy, his efforts to bring operational excellence best practices to the renewable energy field have had a positive impact on the entire industry.
With more than 25 years of executive management experience, Tim oversees RGS Energy’s project management, project installation, product procurement, inventory management, and logistics. He has a Business Administration degree and a successful track record in finance, information technology and the business operations disciplines.
John Schaeffer, General Manager of Retail
John Schaeffer has been exploring renewable energy and sustainable living since his graduation from the University of California at Berkeley in 1971. He founded Real Goods Solar in 1978 as a garage start-up and grew it into a leading global source for tools and information on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living.
In 1998, John founded the Solar Living Institute, a 501-C-3 non-profit corporation based at the Solar Living Center in Hopland, California. Each year, the Institute receives over 200,000 visitors from all over the world and hosts up to 1,000 students, who receive hands-on education in all aspects of renewable energy and sustainable living.
John lives off the grid using solar and hydroelectric power in Hopland, California, where he grows eight acres of grapes and 14 acres of olives biodynamically and organically.
Crystine Hodges, Human Resources Director
Crystine Hodges joined RGS Energy in 2012 because of her interest in the renewable energy industry. She brings with her experience in leading Human Resources departments in the wholesale retail and information technology fields, and in building world-class teams to achieve company goals and objectives. She earned her MBA from Walden University and holds her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. Her love for the beautiful Colorado mountains and open space keeps her focused on helping the company achieve its vision.
Kevin Watkins, General Counsel
Kevin Watkins joined RGS Energy in 2013 as General Counsel, bringing with him over 24 years of legal and business experience. His solar and renewable energy experience includes providing legal counsel for Solar City and REC Solar, along with prior work as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for Hughes General Contractors, one of the largest commercial construction companies in the western United States. Kevin’s extensive regulatory work includes national recognition for his representation of mining companies in Department of Labor actions, and his commercial and litigation experience includes a successful private practice, representing businesses and finding practical solutions to complex problems. He loves the outdoors and spending time with family, and is an avid road cyclist. Kevin is earned undergraduate degrees in English and History from the University of Utah, and a law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law.
