RGS Energy Deploys Solar Power System at New General Surgeons of Western Colorado Facility in Grand Junction, CO
Solar Project Expected to Offset Facility Electricity Costs by More Than 70%
LOUISVILLE, CO, Dec. 2, 2013 – RGS Energy, a nationwide leader of turnkey solar energy solutions, and General Surgeons of Western Colorado today announce the completion of a new 40 kilowatt (kW) solar power system at the new General Surgeons of Western Colorado facility built by FCI Constructors. The energy produced by the PV system 40 kilowatts (kW) and is expected to generate approximately 60,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) annually.
RGS Energy designed, installed and will monitor and maintain the solar power system. The project involved the deployment of 160 solar modules on the rooftop of the new General Surgeons of Western Colorado facility. Construction was completed in early November and the system turned on November 22, 2013.
“The surgeons wanted to care for the environment by choosing renewable energy for their new building. Working with RGS was easy. They helped us design an efficient system that would maximize our energy savings while helping the environment,” said Carla Blue, Practice Administrator.
“RGS Energy was selected by General Surgeons to provide and install a photovoltaic system. The system was installed on time and without any issues. It would be FCI’s pleasure to work RGS again,” said Stan Kiser, Project Manager at FCI Constructors.
By harnessing energy from the sun, General Surgeons of Western Colorado expects to offset the facility’s’ costs of electricity by at least 70%. It is estimated that they will recoup their initial capital investment by year five, while eliminating more than 475,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions or the equivalent of offsetting more than 24,000 gallons of gasoline (per EPA-based data).
“General Surgeons of Western Colorado’s new facility is an important addition to the Grand Junction community, and they have demonstrated financial and environmental awareness. This solar array will not only offset their electricity costs, but will add monthly revenue through the sale of renewable energy credits, as well as increases the overall value of the real estate and organization,” said Justin Pentelute, RGS Energy’s president of residential and small commercial systems. “We’re proud to create another strong partnership in the Grand Junction area.”
