Bill Yearsley, Chief Executive Officer
Bill Yearsley has over 32 years experience as a construction and engineering professional in the field of general infrastructure. Prior to joining Real Goods Solar, Dr. Yearsley completed a four year faculty appointment at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, where he was awarded an endowed professorship.
Dr. Yearsley was the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Denver–based American Civil Constructors. ACC, employing over 1500 employees, performed a diverse variety of small to large-scale private & public works projects throughout the Western United States.
Previous to ACC, Dr. Yearsley was Chairman and CEO of the construction and aggregate group Redland PLC, a 4.2B USD publically traded company on the London Stock Exchange, where he also served as an Executive Director. At the time, Redland was the second largest construction material producer in the world and a major international road builder.
Project and management experience includes roles as a Project Engineer, Estimator, Chief Estimator, Project Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, Division President, CEO, Chairman and Board Director. He has performed work for a variety of clients including: residential home owners, commercial businesses, private developers, Navy, Air Force, FHWA, port authorities, BLM, CDOT, Caltrans, UDOT, WashDOT, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, City of Denver, Denver Water, and other local districts and municipalities throughout the US.
Project work includes: solar, wind, underground utilities, bridges, seismic retrofits, small and large landscape projects, roads, parking lots, pump stations, marine facilities, sports fields, mine reclamation, parks, reservoirs and pipelines.
Dr. Yearsley is a founding investor in a fund that develops utility grade biomass electric generation plants in North America, and his residence in Colorado produces most of its electricity from a wind and PV hybrid system.
John Coletta, Chief Financial Officer
John started his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, serving numerous public and private companies in the Audit + Business Advisory Division, including utility, construction, private equity and retail clients during his ten-year tenure. John was then CFO and EVP at Rock Bottom Restaurants for ten years, a public then private company with operations in 30 states across three major brands of chains including franchising operations. John was instrumental in tripling their footprint and revenues to nearly a half billion dollars with more than 8,000 employees. John recently was the Global CFO and President for Cartridge World, with manufacturing and retail operations in more than 60 countries. He developed an integrated financial organization on the heels of their acquisition roll up of numerous country operations, and co-developed many joint venture arrangements. John brings extensive experience in M&A, finance, joint ventures, strategy management and a level of expertise in “nuts and bolts” administrative systems and support which will be instrumental to the growth plans for Real Goods Solar during rapid organic and acquisition growth.
Timothy Seamans, Vice President of Commercial Solar Operations
Tim Seamans first became interested in solar power as a way to mitigate climate change. Since joining RGS Energy, his efforts to bring operational excellence best practices to the renewable energy field have had a positive impact on the entire industry.
With more than 25 years of executive management experience, Tim oversees RGS Energy’s project management, project installation, product procurement, inventory management and logistics.He has a Business Administration degree and a successful track record in finance, information technology and the business operations disciplines.
Carter Wilding-White, Vice President of Commercial Operations
Carter has been involved in the solar industry for nearly a decade, successfully managing the installation of more than 200 projects. In his current role as Vice President of Commercial Operations, his in-depth knowledge of a project from the ground up helps him understand and navigate the critical path to project completion by breaking it down into manageable goals.
Carter graduated from Cornell University with a degree in mechanical engineering. When not working, he can be found skiing or hiking with his wife and young daughter.
Tyson Grul, Vice President of Commercial Sales, Western Region
Tyson’s career in solar began in the financial industry. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in economics from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1996, Tyson spent ten years on the Pacific Stock Exchange specializing in equity options. He distinguished himself there as “market maker.” While trading, Tyson became increasingly interested in the green companies and eco-minded stocks running across the ticker. He bought a solar system in 2006 and from there, decided to change careers and become more involved in the renewable energy industry. Tyson has been with RGS Energy since 2006 and is now the Commercial Sales Director. He has volunteered on the NABCEP Technical PV Sales Certification Committee and receives regular training from our premier module manufacturers on system design and financial analysis.
